In following the direction and installing the Gus software and ProPatch 1.6, I get annoying repeated drum hits during MIDI playback in Descent.

Is this common? How do I work around it?

Also, (off topic) how does one set up Timidity++ to use the Gus patches? The readme is none-too-specific.
