Okay. I have a VERY SIMPLE task that I must perform. I've got a video recording of the Origin FX logo from the original Wing Commander (recorded in DOSBox), and an audio recording of said logo being played back on my Roland MT-32 on a separate computer. What I must do is take the latter and sync it up with the former. Windows Movie Maker should let me do this, but it's as unstable as a bowling ball on top of the Washington Monument, and won't let me do so without crashing and losing ALL of my work.

So my point is, can anybody recommend to me a better freeware video editor that will let me do this? I don't need anything fancy, and I can't afford to pay for stuff like Pinnacle or Adobe Premiere. My goal is to put this on YouTube or another similar video streaming site.

Unfortunately, VirtualDub does not work for me - I've figured out how to replace the video's sound with my own, but I cannot figure out how to get the video and sound to sync properly.

Virtualdub is what most people recommend, but I personally find it annoying to use. Check out the list of free non linear video editors on Sourceforge. You could save some video from within DOSBox, convert it to WMV (using VLCPlayer or any number of free FFMPEG-based converters) and then use Windows Movie Maker as well.

Thank you very much for the link, but...

Windows Movie Maker has a habit of crashing horribly on me and erasing all my work. Hence why I can't use it to do what I need.

Alright - after praying for a miracle, Movie Maker ended up doing the job. The result is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQip7yaQlm0
