Hey peeps, I've checked around but I couldn't find an immediate answer.

I'm a relatively new Linux user, trying to get the hang of it with a new netbook I've bought (Acer Aspire One).

I'm trying to configure Dosbox on it and it's actually a bit of a pain. Mounting is no problem, but I cannot seem to create new files or rewrite in my mounted folders. So it's simply not possible for me to set my sound card settings or even just unrarring a bunch of files.

Does anyone know what I should do about this?

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too).

If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.

Reading the aptly named README file will be a good idea too.

Thanks for the help!

I'm sorry, but I don't see any mention of Linux user permissions and seperate Linux settings in your 60 seconds guide.

I would want to know how I can give Dosbox root rights to my directories, there's no way to enter su permissions from within Dosbox, and there doesn't seem to be any configuration gui I can use for Dosbox

Create your "DOSBox Stuff" folder in your home directory, and mount that as C.

mount C "~/DOSBox Stuff"

Then you won't have any problems with permissions.
