Hi people,

F1 Manager Professional (1997), using it on Vista with dosbox 0.72. Game works, I can get into it and all of the parts of the game works - apart from the videos/credits/intro screens - the videos are essential for completion of the game as they give vital information for car setup etc. the screen flashes briefly, as if it is trying to enter the video, and then reverts to the previous scren again.

Ive tried running dosbox with older compatability levels etc, and ive been messing about for ages trying to make the game function correctly.

I think my main problem is that the videos will not run on the game. Can anyone please give me some suggestions!

Laptop specs:

Processor: Mobile AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3500+, ~1.8GHz
Memory: 894MB RAM
Direct X 10
Card name: ATI Radeon Xpress Series
Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
Chip type: ATI Radeon Xpress Series (0x5975)
DAC type: Internal DAC(400MHz)

Many thanks,

Jeremy

don't know that game, but if it's a dos one (1997?) and assuming you use a cdrom for it,
my first idea would be you've got the cdrom mounting syntax wrong somehow

so, exactly what parameters are you using in your config's autoexec or at the prompt ?
like:
mount < insert here >

Thanks for the replys. Sorry, I have not been very clear - it's pretty obious I dont know much about this stuff at all.

By different compatability modes, I mean I have been running dosbox in compatability modes for earlier versions than vista (i.e. win 95/98 etc) - i mean go into properties of dosbox and the compatability etc etc...

No I am not using a cd-rom, its a downloaded game from classic-pc-games.

Gidierre, sorry not too sure if this is what you mean, but when i open dosbox, the first thing i type is mount c: c:\users\jeremy\documents\......... until I get to the F1 file containing the .exe file to actually run the game.

Having looked on the FAQ section of the dosbox website, it seems that installing the DOS/32 Advanced DOS Extender might sort this out. If you think this is worth a go pls let me know. Had a go trying to install it the other day, but got stuck.

Thanks for your help.

Don't use compatibility modes with DOSBox.

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too).

If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.

Reading the aptly named README file will be a good idea too.
