I have done some searching, and found some solutions to this problem, but none worked for me.

Even when running dosbox as an admin, in vista, I don't seem to have full read write access to a folder.

I just tried installing a game, into a folder that exists, but I get "Transfer: permission denied"

this is happening on 2 games, Police quest and 3D body adventure.

I have set full control on the folder to everyone, so any ideas?

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too).

If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.

Reading the aptly named README file will be a good idea too.

Thanks MiniMax, I already read that guide, as I notice you post that comment on everyones thread.

collector, thanks it worked 😀

I had extracted to setup files to d:\dos\3dbody

then I mounted C: to d:\dos

then I was trying to install to 3dbody..

This time I tried installing to c:\3d and it worked 😀

(note c:\3d did not exist, but the installer created it)

Thanks collector 😀

But obviously, you didn't follow it.

hmmm, just had a second scan through the 60 second guide, and don't see anything in there relating to permissions.

Anyway, it does not matter, it works now

Which is why my guide tells you install the game into your Documents folder. If you have permissions problems there, then you better dump the computer and get an abacus instead. You might find that easier to use.
