Some might recall a thread I made here a while back, asking about an OPL2 or OPL3 styled soundfont, for purposes of getting that "classic" sound to every MIDI on my system. Well, over at the DigitalMZX forums, a fellow by the name of Anapan finally put together a huge resource devoted to many ways that this can be accomplished, from both software and hardware, or even as an SF2 soundfont. I'll just quote his post here:

Bumping an old post (sorry)
I found this topic a few times while trying to get the same thing.
I ended up making a sorta bad soundfont that almost sounds like OPL2 (conversion didn't work out quite like I planned, but it's usable) and some other OPL2 stuff as well and gathered it all into one place. Thanks for the info on IMF creator.

On a quick glance an opl2 percussion soundfont is mentioned, which is quite
strange because the percussions are regular instruments thus have all the usual
effects which are unlikely to be respected by a soundfont, or what am i missing?
