As the subject states, I want to know are there any VLB bords that don't have onboard I/O? No onboard Harddisk/floppydisk/serial/parallel.

Lots of them, ASUS VL/ 486SV2G to name a few
In fact most of the motherboard with VL slots lacked onboard I/O

I've noticed it to be fifty-fifty. Anyway, I bought a FIC PVT on Ebay. 512K 15ns cache. Woohoo.

Yeah I think onboard I/O first became prevalent with PCI mobos. People were wary of onboard I/O during those days because it was often troublesome and/or junk. Why pay more for onboard I/O that's poorly designed and then have to add a card? You'd lose VLB or ISA slots because of it too.

Oldest board I ever say onbaoird I/O was 386. Seemed to start becoming more common in the VLB days. Micronics and AST had onbaord I/O VLB boards.
