Hi all.

I been following guides to try to get oldgames running (Darkseed2 to be precise)

I followed guides everywhere

Created an oldgames folder

running dosbox

typed mount c c:\ldgames to mount that directory as the drive.

and then...when I try to run my game I get a message saying
"This program requires Microsoft Windows"

can anyone explain me how to fix this? thanks.

here I leave an image with the error

you are running a window executable/game inside a dos emulator.

Obviously it requires Microsoft Windows.

If it's a Windows 3.1 game, and you have a copy of Windows 3.1, you can see this guide for help, or try to run it on your normal version of Windows (the NTs, including 2000, XP, Vista (64-bit version have no support at all), have limited support for such legacy applications, your mileage may vary)

nah.
darkseed 2 was released in 1998.
Probably requires windows 95/98
Although I've seen reports that it works in XP .

According to MobyGames, it was released in 1995 and has both DOS and Windows 3.1 versions.

darkseed1!=darkseed2, Qbix is correct.

I don't know what the correct release would be. Could be either.

The one wd linked to is obviously a compilation of two games, it says nothing at all about the release date of Dark Seed II. That would be like using the Interplay 10th Year compilation to claim that Wasteland was (originally) released in 1993.

And the compilation is much more likely to be the game mentioned here.
But of course a homebrew game with the same name in the second
generation could also be the point of interest here.
