I am having a problem with sound in dosbox. My sound card is an ac 97 compatible (chipset: vt1612A).
I am using the latest via drivers (Vinyl Audio codec v700b) and I am using winXP pro SP3.
I`ve tried changing the settings with no success.
Do you have any idea on resolving this issue?
I`d tried "indiana jones and the fate of atlantis" and "monkey island 1 & 2".
These are the setting in the .conf file:

These games with the above settings are working fine on another 2 computers I`d tried.
The problem is with this computer, thats why I`d mentioned the type of the soundcard.
Does anyone has any experience with vinyl drivers from via? Cause I am not sure if they include drivers for dos.
Of course, sound works fine on everything else except from dosbox. So, maybe the soundblaster settings need to be modified?
Also searching on the drivers readme I found this:
1************************************************* 2** Sound Blaster Compatible DOS Game Supported ** 3************************************************* 4You can play Sound Blaster compatible DOS games with GENERAL MIDI 5music format ONLY in the Windows DOS box. You don't need to enable the 6"Sound Blaster" setting in the BIOS. The Sound Blaster emulation is 7done by Microsoft and OPL3 music format is not supported under the 8Microsoft WDM driver archetecture. 9 10You should change the MUSIC setting in your Sound Blaster compatible 11DOS game from FM MIDI to GENERAL MIDI. Otherwise, there will be no music 12heard when the Sound Blaster compatible game is played.
Your sound hardware's dos compatibility is irrelevant. If sound works in Windows/whatever, it should work in Dosbox. Maybe try another sbtype besides sb16? Monkey Island predates SB16.
I tried changing the soundlbaster to sb1 etc but no sound again.
Also on the dos window behind the one that plays the game I can read the following:
"CONFIG: Loading primary setting from config file...."
"MIDI: Opened device:win32"
If i try changing the irq, dma, hdma settings? But i don`t know where to find the correct ones (if they exist).
don't those just default to using roland/general midi, so if that's not setup you won't hear anything.
Try Monkey2 A or something or at least try some other dos games
