Not sure if this is a DOSBox or a hardware-specific issue, but one of my DOS games wants to play its music from CD Audio tracks on the game disc.

The access light on my CD drive seems to indicate that the tracks are playing correctly, but I cannot hear anything. I believe that my laptop does not have the analog audio attached to the drive.

Is it possible to tell DOSBox or Windows Vista itself to intercept the Audio CD request and read the track digitally?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

DOSBox uses SDL for its audio playback and there seems to have been some trouble there on Vista. It will work properly from CD images.

The next release of DOSBox will support CD audio under Vista properly (at least, it works for me). You can either use a CVS build (try here) or wait for the next release, which is intended to be this month.

Thank you so much for the info. I'll wait and see how 0.73 treats me. 😀
