I am having a horrible time of this. I went to the DOXbox main page and did a download of the version for Windows and put it on my desktop. I tried to open the file and it was zipped, so I had to download WinZip. When I extracted the files from the DOSbox download, they extracted into my folder in Program Files I told it to extract to, but I have looked everywhere and I cannot seem to find and executable file to run DOSbox… HELP! Where is that darned file. The file I downloaded said it was a platform independent version (there was a platform independent, Mac, and i386 version – I chose the platform independent version as the most likely). I also tried to download the i386 version which said it was an executable file, but that didn’t work either… it wasn’t zipped, but I got a lengthy error message from Windows. Can someone please give me the correct download link in response to my problem so I can make sure I have the right one. I got my DOXbox file from the SourceForge.net website which was the link I got from the DOSbox home page Windows link. I am running Windows Vista. All this is so I can run The 7th Guest. I’m starting to think this whole thing is just not worth it. I’ve been using computers since 1975. I used to use DOXBox before and I remember it was pretty easy to use. For some reason, I’m having a heck of a time with this now.

Go to www.dosbox.com, follow the download link at the top of the site and download the "Win32 installer" (the very first link, labelled "Windows"). When you click on that link, it should download the file you need automatically, called "DOSBox0.72-win32-installer.exe". That's the file you need.

😊 Wow! Thank you. I don't know what happened last time I clicked that link, but it took me to those other downloads. Very weird. THANK YOU!!!

Your previous download was for the source code of DOSBox, which contains no .exe files.
