Hello all, I am here after being told about Dosbox on the CombatAce forum. I have been trying to run my first ever WWI Flight Sim - Wings of Glory - on my new computer. I have not actually run the game for at least ten years.

Back then, I had a cheap joystick attached to a Creative Soundblaster Card and a 2x Creative CD player. Of course that full-size card does not fit in my new computer. To run OverFlandersFields I bought a USB joystick.

I tried to get WOG to run on the pooter using IBM Dos 7.0 in M$ Virtual Machine but I can't get the Dos to recognise any sort of USB connection.

So I was told to try Dosbox instead. However, on reading the whole readme file, I find no mention of USB at all.

So, my question is: can I somehow run WOG inside Dosbox using my USB joystick?

I think you can do that without problems. Just try it.

I have no problems running my games in DOSBOX 0.73 with my Logitech USB joystick. Wacky Wheels, Wolf3D, Primal Rage work fine so you shouldn't have any problems as long as it's properly installed in Windows.

Incidentally MS Vitrual PC also works with USB joysticks - I have mine set up with MS DOS 6.22 and Primal Rage/Stellar 7 run fine.

You're better off running WOG in DOSBOX however since it has much better sound and graphics support than MS VPC. If you were able to get MS VPC running to the point where you got your game to load then DOSBOX shouldn't be a challenge. Go through the readme file and play with the DOSBOX.CONF settings (make sure you keep a backup of the unmodified file in case you f**k up) 😉
