as of my understanding when using dosbox and typing ver dos box reports dos 5.00 i was hoping maybe the developers could update the dos ver to 6.21 or 6.22 with the dos utilities included in 6.22 that were removed in that version that were previously implemented in 6.21.
dos 5.00 is a good start but i think that upgrading dos to a newer ver is probably more beneficial to everyone in the community as in terms of compatibility. just a thought. i have those disks around here 6.21 6.00 and 6.22 with the utility patch for 6.22 somewhere..... if needed....

Atlas, the DOS in DOSBox isn't MS-DOS. It's actually a set of functions executed on the host processor, outside the emulation (except for side effects, off course).

As H-A-L pointed already, you can change the version number reported by DOSBox by using the line he posted from the command prompt. But it doesn't matter for DOS games actually. They were coded for MS-DOS 5, or lower.

You can run MS-DOS (any version) in DOSBox, check the documentation, the Wiki or the guides in the Forum (I think there's an detailed tutorial somewhere, but I don't know where exactly).
