When I ran teh version of monkey island 2 on my old box it came throught the PC speaker but now on my new box running XP, I run it using VDMSound but it now comes through my headphones. Is there a way of making it come throught the PC speaker again?

Try specifying I as command line parameter (have to check this)

EDIT:

This is what I got when typing monkey2.exe /?

Interpreter Verson 5.2.02 (Nov 21 1991 08:35:15)
Unknown flag: '/?'

Options:
v VGA graphics
m MCGA graphics
e EGA graphics
k Keyboard
j Joystick
mo Mouse
i Internal speaker
a Adlib(tm) sounds
s SoundBlaster(tm) sounds
r Roland(tm) sounds

For example, in order to play with EGA Graphics and a Roland,
type: MONKEY2 e r

I think there's some confusion here...

Unregistered, understand this:

PC Speaker: That is the speaker built into the computer. Extremely limited capacity for audio.

This is not to be confused with speakers hooked to your PC's audio output.

Having said that, since Unregistered also said

I run it using VDMSound but it now comes through my headphones.

, which makes it sound like he has the enhanced re-release with CD-audio tracks.

Is this the case?

It may be the enhanced cd version I have, i'm not sure because i downloaded it (my old version came with my my old computer but i never obtained a cd or floppy with it, I was to young at the time to know). So do you think I should try and get a different version?

Unless the download was hundreds of megabytes in size, then I doubt it.

So do you think I should try and get a different version?

Well that would be nice, but odds are it would involve you actually buying the CD version from LucasArts.

BTW, when you say the sound went through your headphones...are they connected to the CD-player or the output at the back of the PC?

At the back of course.

Unplug your earphones from the computer and plug the speakers instead 😀 or unplug the earphones from the speakers, and you should hear everything coming through the speakers.
