I use Dosbox to run an older dos based accounting program called HCA3.
Recently, I was running it on an XP computer system that I set up in 2004.
I bought a new XP computer sustem in 2008 to be used as a backup in case the 2004 system failed.
I have been using Dosbox .63
I downloaded and installed DB.63 to the 2008 XP.
I then configured it and installed my HCA3 program and copied all my data files from the 04XP to the 08XP.
It worked fine but it would not print?
I went to control panel on 08XP, clicked on printers, right clicked on my HP2420 default printer, and then selected ports.
Under ports, I noticed that the port called "DOT" was checked?
I changed the check mark to "LPT1"
I clicked apply, and exited, and then started up Dosbox.63 and my HCA3 program and now it works.
The odd thing is that on my 04XP system, under printer ports, the "DOT" port is checked but it prints fine that way??
Also, while on this project, I downloaded and installed the newer version of Dosbox, ie, .73 to my 08XP.
I installed my HCA3 to it and it works just fine.
However, it cant print any reports??
I compared the config files in .63 and .73 and they appear to be the same.
My HP2420 default printer works fine with Dosbox.63 and also with all windows programs, I just cant print anything out of HCA3 that is running under .73
Any suggestions??
Thank You,
