Hi all,

I've recently tried to finish these series again but as a lot of other people I have stumbled upon problems with Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness.

When I run the game I hear music but I don't hear any voices. Now, I've been looking already and I have found a lot of tips on how to fix this. But I can't find a solution to my problem. I know a certain file is corrupt on my disc. (I have the anthology CD).

I have have used the Sierrahelp installer, even tried to copy the files myself but I keep having problems with the file RESOURCE.AUD.
When I try to come this, it starts ok but then it'll just freeze. I think this is the only file I still need to get the voice working. Anyone has any ideas on how to fix this?

Btw I'm using Dosbox on Windows 7.

Is the RESOURCE.AUD file in your installed directory? The installer will try to copy all of the files, but if a file fails to copy a file, the installer will continue on to the next one. If you can't copy the file, then indeed there is a problem with the CD. Is the CD in good shape with no scratches, abrasions or cracks?

When I used the installer it installed QfG 1,2 and 3 good and when it started with the 4th one it just stops when it's trying to transfer the file. I just click cancel so it'll start on the other files otherwise it's stuck for hours. I got the game from my cousin and there are some scratches on it, but not really deep ones.

Isn't there any way to get the file an other way? Because I assume that's the only file I still need to get the voiced version.

You could try to manually copy the CD to your hard drive and if you can, just burn a copy. Otherwise you will have to find another copy. If you can provide proof of ownership, you might ask on the Quest for More Glory forums for help with this.
