Im trying to run theme hospital from cdrom using dosbox. Thanks to this forum Ive actually managed to install it, and it runs perfectly...

However

What do I type into Dosbox to start replaying it.? I only know how to re install it and obviously this means Im losing my saved game data.

I have tried going to the folder I saved the game to, but when I click it I get an error msg saying the game cannot run in full screen then the whole thing stops working 🙁

Im not the best at computers so any help will be really appreciated.thanks 😕

In the DOSBOX directory is the config.txt file.

Open the file in Windows and edit some of the values as needed (not often). At the bottom is where you put in the mounting instructions. Here are the commands to set up DAGGERFALL.

mount c c:\games -freesize 2000
mount d c:\games\dagger\dfcd -t cdrom -label DAGGERFALL
c:
cd dagger
FALL.EXE Z.CFG

The rename the file "(game).txt" and save it into the game directory for that title. Now all I do is click the icon and the game loads without me repeating any commands. I was stoked when I figured it out. I am no software guru.

Good luck... Cheers!

Create a COPY of your DOSBOX icon and rename it the title of the game. In the startup parameters, you start DOSBOX and add "-conf (directory)(game).txt".

This is called "helping people" in case you're unfamiliar with the concept robertmo.

DOSBox is very flexible in how you can pass commands to it. The above example is one way of doing it. Another way would be to create a specific dosbox.conf for a game and add all the commands to mount drives, launch the game etc. at the end of that dosbox.conf file, under the "autoexec" section. The effect will basically be the same. Yet another way would be to put all commands into a text file, name it "start.bat" (for example) and put it into the game directory. You can then start the game by changing to that dir and typing "start" (which will execute the .bat). Oh, the possibilities... (;

the thread is month old, the OP didn't ask for more help and also there is no config.txt file in DOSBOX directory 😉

Robertmo,

You are an obnoxious arrogant jerk. Who are you to call a simple post spam? You post a cryptic link. Who cares if you linked to all the info? Some people just want the edited version.

Some people want to see the site run just for them.Anything they have seen before is "spam". It's all about being nasty and self righteous, acting arrogant towards new members. If you trying to drive people away, you are doing a good job.

Get ready for plenty more useless spam, idiot.
