Hi does vdms work with death rally ? (i have winxp)
when i start death rally without vdms it works just fine no sound though , everytime i try to start it through vdms shortcut the game gets stuck at "loading music and sound......"
whatst wrong??
It sounds like the program's sound was incorrectly configured. Run the program's sound setup program.

More specifically make sure that the game is configured for VDMSound's default settings (port 220, IRQ 7, DMA 1).
If that doesn't help then make sure that you have "Update 1" for VDMSound (get it at http://vdmsound.sourceforge.net/files/VDMSoun … 0.4.update1.zip -- unzip into the VDMSound installation directory and overwrite when prompted) and try again. Any luck? If that still doesn't work then go to the VDMSound shortcut's properties and disable "Expanded memory (EMS)" since running without VDMSound does not give EMS (so maybe EMS is making all the difference in the world).

uh now there's another problem though..
the sound playback works (although rather poor quality) but it slows down the game drastically ?
oops sorry It's same with sound disabled so I guess its the game..

I finally get it and make it works... thx guys... I first use abandon loader with vsmsound 2.04 with upgrade 1 ( important to download it. I create a .bat file which says :
NOLFB.COM
RALLY.EXE /W
so as you see i downloaded nolfb.com and i placed it in the death rally's folder. It is important, if you don't want a game that crashes. From the setting of vdmsound ( option, vdm, setting) I use sound blaster 16 pnp port 220 irq 5 dma 1 dma 5. In the setup of the game I use sound blaster mono/pro/16/awe 32 port 220 irq 5 dma 5.
After I run the go.bat from abandon loader and it works for me. No speed problem or anything else.
It works fine on my p4 1600 with 128 ddr ,with geforce 3 and a sound blaster live.
