I installed Dungeon Keeper without any problem and it runs fine in the smaller screen DOSbox is set at, but when I go to full screen the game is painfully slow. When changing from the screen where you choose to start a game to the area where you choose the location you are going to start playing at (little red flag), it must take at least 10 seconds, with individual layers on the screen getting darker and darker, like it's layering the image one step at a time from the screen closing to the new screen opening up.

How can I get the game running faster in full screen?

Ok I changed the resolution to what my desktop is. Since I've closed out DOSBox and reopened it. What command do I use to launch the game? I mounted the c drive and then typed in the folder where the game was installed but it says "illegal command".

Nevermind. I figured out how to use the cd "folder name" command and got it all worked out.

Thanks!

Ok back to the resolution.

Changing the resolution to 1920x1200 doesn't seem to change anything. Do I have to lower the desktop resolution and then enter the lower setting in the config?

# fullresolution: What resolution to use for fullscreen: original or fixed size (e.g. 1024x768). Use your monitor's maximum resolution for best results.
# Use it together with aspect=true and scaler=none for best results.
# Doesn't work with: output=surface, 16-bit colour games, 16-bit colour scalers, machine=vgaonly, cga composite.

# windowresolution: Scale the window to this size.
# Use it together with aspect=true and scaler=none for best results.
# Doesn't work with: output=surface, 16-bit colour games, 16-bit colour scalers, machine=vgaonly, cga composite.

# output: What video system to use for output.
# Possible values: surface, overlay, opengl, openglnb, ddraw.

# aspect: Do aspect correction. Together with output=surface this can slow things down!.

# scaler: Scaler used to enlarge/enhance low resolution modes. If 'forced' is appended, the scaler will be used even if the result might not be desired.
# Every scaler slow things down!
# Possible values: none, normal2x, normal3x, advmame2x, advmame3x, advinterp2x, advinterp3x, hq2x, hq3x, 2xsai, super2xsai, supereagle, tv2x, tv3x, rgb2x, rgb3x, scan2x, scan3x.

Just set the fullscreen res you want to use in dosbox.conf, DOSBox should switch to that res if you go fullscreen. You should experiment with different values for the "output" option. On my system ddraw usually works best/is the fastest mode.

I've never played DK in DOSBox, the Direct3D patch always worked very well in XP on my old P4. Didn't try the game on my new machine under Vista/Win7 yet though.
