I need to get rid of some stuff. It is is all scheduled for the dumps, so if you need some, feel free. Don't feel greedy if you take it all!
Postage only!

Soundblaster 16 SCSI, CT-1770, DSP V4.13, hexen bug. All jumpers config.

mATX P3 board (ASUS OEM, S370, Via Chipset)

7x 30pin 1MB 60ns by Topless,
6x 30pin 1MB -7(0) by "who cares"
2x 72pin 4Mbytes HP 70ns 8 chips, 4x5 legs each
2x 72pin 4x32 EDO 8front+4back chips, 4x6 legs each
2x 72 pin 8chips 4x6 legs each, probably 8MB each.

I checked a few 30 pins in an AWE, they passed the test. I can't check the 72pin kind.

Next time the garden calls for a trip to the dump, it will be gone...

Hello I'm interested in the Sound Blaster 16. What exactly is the hexen bug, can someone elaborate?

I wonder what the workforce morale was like at the "who cares" company? No wonder they went under!

SB16 vs DBs (hanging / stuck / wrong notes in MIDI)

In a nutshell: forget external midi /daughterboard with it.

I have a Sound Blaster AWE 64 Gold which tends to "forget" some notes.
Is that a similar problem? If so, I can live with it and if not I'd still like the card. How much would posting cost to Greece?
Oh and I saw someone in that topic saying that if you unassign the SCSI port using the jumpers it might fix the problem. Will it?

To Greece? Given the size of the card, as a letter it would cost 6 Euros.

No, unassigning the SCSI doesn't fix it. It is a far spread problem.

If you have an AWE64, why bother with this card?

Because I want to add a DB60XG, but my vibra16 doesn't have the connector. I doubt it will sound worse than my AWE64.
Do you accept transactions through paypal?
I can also see that you're a Master of Orion fan aren't you 😁?

Well, actually, it probably will sound worse than your AWE64. SB16s were known for their noisy output anyway (far more so than the later AWE cards), and the hanging note bug isn't the same as occasional dropped notes... a hanging note is when the note plays, and keeps playing and playing and playing constantly.

On the other hand, FM music should be a bit better, due to the fact that the CT1770 has a real OPL3.

The card is OK for SCSI , for absolutely software free configuration by jumpers and for SB16 compatibility with OPL3. I wouldn't use it for a daughterboard! You waste your money if you ship it for that purpose.

I've got 2 main retro PCs at the moment, one of them has a Vibra16 and the other one has an AWE64 Gold. I guess I didn't make it clear, I wanted the SB16 to take the place of the Vibra 16 and I'm going to get an DB60XG daughterboard soon so I will test it out, but the Vibra 16 doesn't have the connector necessary for the daughterboard to plug in.
6 euro ain't much I still want it if you don't mind. Do you accept paypal ?

Thanks for the concern and the information though! 😁

You could use the CT1770 + DB60XG hardware combination for MIDI music only, so long as you do not select the CT1770 for soundblaster effects. That way, your music will not be affected by the hanging note bug. Of course, you'll need a second sound card to provide the digital effects. You could use your Vibra16 card for that. So, rather than swap out your Vibra16 for the CT1770, you could put the CT1770 alongside it - if you have a spare ISA slot.

If you go for the above approach, you will also need either a stereo mixer, or a 2nd set of speakers.

Yeah that could work too, but wouldn't there be driver conflicts?

Mixer: Just direct the noisier card through the line in of the other.

Driver: What driver ?

In dos, the card needs no driver. You just have to make sure you jumper it right.

I don't mind giving it away - just don't complain when you are not satisfied.
Paypal is fine, but since they deduct money, it would boil down to 6,50 Euros.

No of course not why would I complain ? You are giving it away I don't expect it to be perfect nor should I complain just because it doesn't do what I thought it would, that would be crazy! I want it anyway.
I was talking about the conflict. Since you have a Vibra 16 and a SB16 how are you going to select which one to use in DOS?

You could try to jumper it for IRQ7 IO240 and DMA3, just leave MPU at 330. Reserve IRQ7 and DMA3 in bios for legacy ISA. Your pnp card will not use them. In a game, you can then set irq, io and dma according to which card you want to do what.
I can verify on tuesday that shipping will go 6 Euros and send you a PM with the paypal target then.

So why in HeXen SoundBlaster AWE32 doesnot work? its hexen bug? or something missed? need additional configurations/files?

There is a whole thread on the hexen bug. Why don't you delete your post here and move it to the more appropriate thread. I linked to it further up.

The board is an OEM version of ASUS CUV4x-cme (called Medion 2001, from an ALDI PC). Before I go to figure out the postage, here are the reasons why I dump it:

Cons:
No ISA
Onboard Soundblaster has very low output level, you end up using a card instead.
No control over fsb - auto only. There may be a OC-BIOS, but I just couldn't be bothered to try.

Pro:
3xPCI
AGP 4x / 2x

I used it for a while with my V3 3000 at 200 MHz. It has enough juice on 3.3V AGP for it. Paired it with a SB Live! to play European Air Wars. Then it got a job as net radio for 30 days, till winXP shut down. Recently I decided that I can play European Air Wars on a P800 with a V5 all the same and that I use something smaller dedicated for net radio instead.

Postage? I have to check if this can pass as a letter.

I like the board, but it just doesn't make sense from my retro point of view:
No ISA - no DOS. And for Win98 only, there is much faster stuff available that offers some speed control too. I gladly spare it from destruction, if you like to get it.
