Yuppers. I think I'll record it. It's a project and I need a project.

What a beast!
I never heard of this card but it sure looks like it left it's "mark" in the soundcard world 😀

It's pretty nice. It's not "clearly superior" or anything like that but as with all of these cards it's fun to compare and contrast because they all have strengths and weaknesses.

Recently, I bought a "cut down beast". This ebay item webpage has some pics of the Ensoniq card at the bottom. I might have some time to test it in the next couple of weeks..

That's an original Ensoniq Soundscape card. I have one too, this model was the one I used the most. This one appears to have been simplified a bit by removing the proprietary CDROM interfaces.
All of these Ensoniq sound card models have unique patch sets and each has its strengths. Well, except for the COW card and the VIVO which have 1MB patch sets that are simply inferior overall to the big cards with 2MB.

It works! 😀 I'm going to buy a 3.5mm audio cable, and connect it up to the line out on the card, and then the line in on my X-Fi sound card in my main box. Is that how a recording is made? I've never been able to successfully record anything from a retro machine. I remember trying to do a recording for Vogons user @gerwin, but I failed. This time, I'll get it right!

Recording should be easy.
Line out / headphone out into the line in on the recording machine. Often you need to adjust the output volume of the retro sound card and / or the recording sensitivity to make sure you get a recording that's not to quiet and not to loud.

Yup just watch the recording levels to make sure there's no clipping from excessive volume.

I finally decided to try out my new NEC XR385 (Yamaha DB60XG clone). Snapped it on a SB16 and fired up Doom since it seems so popular nowadays, hehe. I have now become familiar with the dreaded stuck note of death. 😵
Doom midi sounds much better over the SB Awe64 Gold I was using, but this stuck note thing is unacceptable. 🙁
