go here: http://support.creative.com/Products/product_ … e=Sound+Blaster
select "others" and then on Archived Products list select " Ensoniq AudioPCI" , then on the product page select win98SE and download!

Hmm, that should have worked.

The chipset is an ES1371 Audio PCI device, even as fuzzy as the pic is I can still make this out.

or a CREATIVE driver set instead of an Ensoniq one

Don't ask, it's really stupid what Creative does. I can't get Ensoniq drivers working on Creative AudioPCIs either.

On my ES1373 the Creative AND Ensoniq DOS drivers work fine!

As for W98 I only tried the drivers from the Creative site and they also worked just fine. It's possible his card is faulty...

If it's an actual "Ensoniq AudioPCI", then you must go to the E-Mu site and get the Ensoniq AudioPCI drivers from their download area. There is a driver package in there that turns the card into a SBPCI64.

The Creative drivers simply don't recognize the vendor and device IDs of the original Ensoniq cards. After Creative bought out Ensoniq, they eventually put out that SBPCI64 upgrade pack for Ensoniq customers.

E-Mu and Ensoniq merged. They were called "E-Mu Ensoniq" for awhile. That's why the Ensoniq drivers are on their site.

Do the drivers refuse to install, or do they install and refuse to work?
