My temporary/definitive solution to the MIDI output through a guide I found over the Internet after ain intense search inpired by a vogons thread, so, since it doesn't look linked to any illegal software and since I couldn't get the Timidity pass-through method to work and I could easily understand this guide I'll just link it "as is".

Provided that if anyone finds any illegal thing feel free to edit/delete the post.

With this method you'll be able to use any sound font you own and for me it solved the YAMAHA SoftSynthesizer (you need a legal copy) issue in Windows 7.

Oh, and take a look at this wonderful alternative to "Vista MIDI Picker":

I prefer it because it doesn't need the .net framework, so it launches faster 😀

Although, to be honest, it's not really needed for dosbox. You can always specify exactly which MIDI device you want to use in dosbox.conf.
