I've got TR1 running with Glidos last night. As they suggested I've installed VDMSound to help me with the audio aspect of this game. Here's what I have done.

Installed TR1 from original (blue) CD
Replaced tomb.exe with voodoo version (873,739 bytes in size)
Installed Glidos 1.24 (registered copy)
Installed VDMSound2[1].1.0.exe
Installed lpadhelp
Edited VDMS.INI as follows:
[VDMServicesProvider.config]
fixPOPF = 0
[DMA Transfer Manager.config]
minDMAPeriod = 1
maxDMAPeriod = 5
Commented out the Joystick section
Setup TR1 with SoundBlaster 16/DMA1/IRQ7

The machine I am working on has:
ASUS A7V266-E
Athlon XP2200+
1G RAM
GeForce 3
SBLive 5.1 X-Gamer with Digital I/O
Windows XP SP1

Everything seems to work ok, but as I play TR1 the sound gets choopy and cracking after a while. It does go back to normal in few seconds but it will do that again as I go.

Is this normal? or did I set things up wrong?

I think I know what I did wrong.

It looks like VDMSound is not compatible with "Forced texture smoothing" option of Glidos, at least on Tomb Raider 1.

I turned this option off and sound seems to be solid.
