I have an iso of simant mounted on a virtual drive, and the virtual drive is mounted in dosbox as the cd drive (d drive). When I type DIR when in the D drive, it shows me the files on the mounted cd. When I type setup, the command line that comes back shows the command "win" (no quotes) auto typed before Setup, and the error tells me "illegal command: win."

win.com for Windows. It is trying to load windows first. You need to install the DOS version, if there is one. See if there is an INSTALL instead of SETUP.

well if i run Maxis (exe) its actually saying this program cannot be run in dos mode (eh?)

and nope theres nothing else in there that can be run.
