Hi everyone. I have another problem this time with a HP netbook (Atom processor - 2 GB RAM). Windows 7 installed (32 bits). The battery icon always reports battery is not charging. Any ideas?. I have seen that the A/C power plug is quite dislodged but the netbook works fine when connected to A/C because the battery is discharged. Any ideas?

I am going to format it tomorrow morning because explorer.exe shutdowns when trying to open Control Panel. I think there was some malware around.

I will post back tomorrow about how it goes after formatting and reinstalling Windows 7.

If not charging but computer stays on then it's either not the right PSU, is the wrong type or yeah the battery may be bad. 🙁

The charging circuit on the motherboard could also be bad (I have two Powerbook G4's that run fine on AC power but won't charge a battery), but that's the last thing I would check. Check the cheap and simple stuff first.

The problem persists after formatting. Either the battery is dead or the power charge circuit is bad as some of you have already pointed out. On the other hand, system now runs flawlessly but on AC power only. I will tell my friend to visit an HP retailer shop to see what they come out with.
