The lunchbox concept never died out, it just moved into a niche market. You can buy Core i7 lunchbox systems nowadays or even buy a lunchbox case ready for you to build your own computer in just as you would with a standard, empty ATX case.

If lunchbox cases weren't typically so costly, I imagine the form factor could be a hit at LAN parties.
