I want to know if I can boot DOSBox to run any OS. I want to create a simple OS and run it in DOSBox. Can I use BIOS, RAM, etc. as usual? Are there any other things that are different than I would expect?

You can boot disk images, BIOS-level functions are available for a lot of stuff.
Otherwise use bochs and similar.

Cool. I will look into bochs, since I didn't want DOSBox for games at all, just a simple test computer.
