Hello there, I am currently able to run FIFA and played an entire game. But im unable to hear any music

what I did was

Installing the game, then

mount c c:\iso
imgmount d c:\fifa.cue -t iso -fs iso
MDSEX or whatever installed
C:
CD FIFA (because the folder is like this C:\iso\FIFA)
FIFA

In the config sound program, the music test even pass but just do not work in game.

I use the default option of dosbox except the 386 pretech to make this game run

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

changing cputype to PENTIUM_SLOW will do the exact same thing as the 386 pretech

Thanks for the suggestion, I do hope that we will find a answer about this (im also checking from my side)

Could you post the contents of your cue file, please?

Can you tell me how can I see the contents of a cue file?

Thanks

here what's inside the cue files

FILE "FIFA.bin" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

I don't know what that mean, but only that written probaly meant it is missing something

I used POWERISO to do the image, and It worked for some other game like Star Wars Dark Force and Mortal Kombat II

EDIT: Even If I use the Original CD Itself, I don't get music. Strange

Your cue file is missing the audio tracks, which pretty much explains why you don't have music. Configure your cdrom imaging tool to make a correct cuesheet with audio tracks, or maybe use a different tool.

What Strange is that even using the original CD in my cd-rom computer drive I will not have music ingame. The music file are even in the CD (by checking the music folder inside the CD)

The floppy version of the game actually plays the music files. Don't know why the files are included in the CD version, but it wants to play audio tracks.

DOSBox has some mount switches that might help with getting CD audio from a physical disc to work, depending on platform. However, there are several advantages to using an image; better compatibility being one.

Yes I agree, but I just postest information about physical CD not even getting music despite being the original source, It was suprising. I always use image for my games and FIFA is the exception of the game not having music track. I tried CUE/BIN , ISO, and It do not work.

What make me more frustate is that in the sound test , when I choose FM test, there is a music playing, confirming that I can heard music, but in the actual game, there is none.

I use a windows 7 64 bits computer. I had problem with the music missing in warcraft I in the past but I managed to find the option of mounting the Cue file of the image, this do not work for FIFA

The music in the CD version of FIFA does work in DOSBox; but again, you need to make an image that contains the audio tracks.

In a correctly made image the BIN file should be around 330MB; and the CUE file should be similar, if not identical, to this:

FILE "FIFA.BIN" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
INDEX 01 06:16:68
TRACK 03 AUDIO
INDEX 01 09:47:41
TRACK 04 AUDIO
INDEX 01 12:55:37
TRACK 05 AUDIO
INDEX 01 17:18:35
TRACK 06 AUDIO
INDEX 01 21:04:35
TRACK 07 AUDIO
INDEX 01 25:31:54
TRACK 08 AUDIO
INDEX 01 29:53:63
TRACK 09 AUDIO
INDEX 01 30:25:44
TRACK 10 AUDIO
INDEX 01 30:58:02
TRACK 11 AUDIO
INDEX 01 31:30:45
TRACK 12 AUDIO
INDEX 01 32:03:57

The CD is only 57.1 MB, according to my computer when I right click on D: and I check his space it take. (Im talking about the physical CD). I don't honestly know how you could have 330 MB when the physical CD do not contain that much (unless that my CD is special, which I doubt since I bought it brand new).

Also note that its the Gold CD Rom Classics Edition of FIFA International Soccer, there is also a regular CD version and the original Floppies. I own the gold cd rom one.

As for now, it is still not solved. Im still suprised that even with the physical CD on the drive, I dont get music. It is the first game in my DOS collection that do that.

It's a mixed mode cd, containing a data track (which size you see in explorer) and audio tracks which make up the remaining 280MB. Make an image with a program that properly handles mixed mode.

I tried to do an Image with Ultra ISO and it gave me the same 57.1 MB file with a cue file that look like this

FILE "FIFA_CLASSIC.bin" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

Perhaps your "gold" disc lacks audio tracks, as sometimes happened with re-releases.

One thing you can do to verify whether or not there are audio tracks is to play the disc in an audio CD player. Some older CD players might try to play the data track, resulting in noise, so start with very low volume just in case.

Install Alcohol 52% Free Edition. Check for the CDA and make the cd-image with it.
UltraISO can't see CDA at all. Plus the cd-image will be with modified descriptors.
