i've seen several posts on their bugs(such as waveblaster port and so on) before, but they are a bit hard to dig up again, and to find them all. can anyone make a collection of it, and tell me which model has least bugs?
The hanging note bug? AFAIK all cards have this bug. But the bug only shows when also using digital speech over the same card. So an easy workaround is using two cards. One for the waveblaster port and the other one for digital speech.
AFAIK all SB16/AWE32 cards except the ones with DSP versions 4.05 or 4.16 have the hanging notes bug, though I can't confirm this because I don't have a waveblaster or a Sound Blaster with a waveblaster header (though I've read it also affects the MIDI port). AWE64s don't have a waveblaster header, and they all have DSP 4.16 AFAIK, so they're not affected.
I wonder if the SB Live!'s emulated SB16 is affected? (it has DSP 4.13) Anyone have any info on this?
I don't think the Live! has a waveblaster header, but no hanging notes when you use the built-in General Midi and Sound Blaster 16 mode under DOS in games such as Doom.
yeah but how do i see dsp version? i don't see any chips with version numbers like that, must i power it up?

I have never found a SB16 or AWE32 that works properly with my Roland SCB-55 / SCD-15. That includes CT17xx, the earliest SB16s with 4.05. I'm fairly sure I've tried all DSP versions.

It is displayed by the DOS / Win3.x software installer. This is included with the various SB16 downloads still on Creative's site.
just had a look at the ct1741 chip of my ct3990 awe32 and it says 4.13, oh no!
i wonder if there are really any full length awe32(those with simm slots) with dsp 4.05 or 4.16, the ct3990 appears to be latest model of them.
