I'm trying to resurrect an old Packard Bell 486sx multimedia sff computer and recently started have problems with the floppy. I am thinking the controller is the issue. The computer starts and tells me that is does not see the floppy. The drive does not light up nor performs a "sweep" when powered on. I checked to make sure I'm getting voltage to it. I tried another drive and another cable. I have tried resetting cmos, booting with no other drives connected, booted without expansion cards, etc... I am pretty at a loss what else I can do to troubleshoot. The funny thing is that I was copying files from the original floppy drive the day before.

edit: this is the motherboard I have http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/pb/mb/430.htm

Figured it out, the controller was disabled in the advance settings tab in the BIOS 🙄 Knew it was something simple!
