Have installed my new Midiman MM-401 card and it works nicely. I have two questions regarding it:

1. After playing/testing Space Quest III I loaded up Monkey Island. The sounds from the MT-100 was completely wrong most of the time. After some trial and error I just turned the MT-100 off and then back on again which fixed the problem. Any explanation for this?

2. A newer DOS game, Battle Arena Toshinden does not detect the MM-401 in the soundsetup, but works fine with the MIDI connector on the soundcard. This happens even if the MM-401 is the only midi device setup in the system.

1. The reason why this happens is because Space Quest III send custom instrument patches to the MT-100. When you exit the game and load Monkey Island, the patches are still there. Monkey Island does not use custom patches and assumes the default patches are available. To fix this, reset the module or turn it off after each game.

2. Check the I/O port of your MM-401. If it is not at 330, then most games will not use it.

Thanks, I'm fairly new to the MT-32 world, so thanks for clearing that up.

The MM-401 is on 330, so that should not be the problem. I just get "cannot initialize MIDI driver" when I try to play a MIDI test sample. Could it be that the soundsetup is only made for UART midi connectors on soundcards and not for standalone devices?
