I'm trying to run Warcraft 2 on a PowerBook G4 running Mac OS X.5. I found and downloaded DOSBox 0.74, and followed the instructions on the Wiki:

I inserted my CD.
I created a folder in /Users/erin/Warcraft2
I launched DOS BOX and entered the following command lines
1) mount C ~/Warcraft2
RESPONSE: Drive C is mounted as local directory /Users/erin/Warcraft2
2) mount E "/Volumes/War2BNE CD" -t cdrom switch
RESPONSE: MSCDEX: Mounted subdirectory: limited support.
RESPONSE: Drive E is mounted as CDRom /Volumes/War2BNE CD/
3) E:
RESPONSE: E:\>
4) install.exe
RESPONSE: Illegal command: install.exe

I also tried "install" and "setup", but nothing worked so far. What should I do next?

No file available which could be executed with DOSBox.
Are you sure it's Warcraft 2 for DOS?

The label reads:
WarCraft II: Battle.net Edition
Windows 98/95/NT 4.0
Power Macintosh
CD-Rom
Version 2.0

Nor should it be mentioned: the Battle.net edition DOESN'T support DOS.

So, does anyone here know of any other way I might be able to play this game again?

Will those even work on a G4 processor?

What Mac OS requirements are given fot this particular game?
If pre-OS X (Mac OS 9 or earlier) , try to run the game within SheepShaver.

at least for me, Warcraft 2 do not work very well on basillik II (if you ever thought trying that emulator). The music cut up and sometime the game will come to a halt that will crash the entire emulator. SheepShaver could be an alternative idea, but its HELL to install it (windows 95 on dosbox is easier)
