My very first post. Did you guys see any difference using sndblst.sys (older from WIN NT4.0 CD) vs ctlbs16.sys (w2k, xp) WITH old sb 1.x pro1-2 under WINXP ? does ctlbs16.sys ""officialy"" support legacy SB PRO?. I have mixed results with sndblst.sys in WINXP setup is:
Coppermine-T 1.13ghz Asus p2b@133fsb 1hd-ide 2xdvdrw-ide fx5600, pci-to-usb nec, 2xISA no-pnp COM3, and a SBPRO2 jumpered IRQ 7 DMA 1
For DOS Creative demos to work (even to test-sb to recognize the card) have to increase 8-bit I/O from 1-BUSCLK to 8 otherwise DMA error pops up.
In WinXp im getting a constant background electric noise even in mute, and at times garbage output (playing videos from a USB) and no-midi (drivers seems ok, but no midi device).
I really want to tune fine this machine, the electrical noise seems physical (if you gently touch the speakers jacks with output card, u hear radio even with power off mobo) But the garbage output is for sure DMA corrupting, M$ says that .sys is made for DMA1, i already tried increase DMA CACHE SIZE to max 6KB, no improvement. Would CTLSB16 solve anything? should i tweak something else in bios? disable UDMA? any idea will be useful
* Same problems happens (worse) in the same machine but with a PAS16.
