Im using frebsd 5.1 i hit ctrl F12 to increase cpu cycle hmm games still run too slowly, im running doom1 i have a p4 2.66 mhz processor im guessing it should run fine..... im not really sure what to check i ahvent created a dosconf using the default. thnks

You should try CTRL-F7 & CTRL-F8 to decrease/increase frameskipping respectively. Also, as some other forum members have suggested, you should try some port of Doom for your Operating System. There are lots of them and most work surprisingly well.
