Hi

When I try to play Serpent Isle - selecting Roland MT32 and Sound Blaster in the install program..... on the menu screen at the start I click "Journey Onwards" and it is supposed to go to a blue screen before the game begins...

I get stuck at a black screen.

If I press enter a couple of times I can see in large pink letters "Internal stack overflow system halted"

When I add Stacks=12,256 to config.sys

I get something different...JUst a black screen. No text. Nothing....

I am using a Tekram IO controller with DRAM on it and Im pretty sure thats what is causing it.

But is there anyway to get it working without using a normal IO card?

The black gate runs fine.

EDIT: forgot to mention if i select in the install roland mt 32 on its own it works great. Same if i pick Sound blaster on its own it works no problem.

Not using SoftMPU

No jumpers on the io card.

strangely....

I swapped out every component. Io card, Video, RAM, Sound Blaster, Hard disk. And its STILL happening...Ive changed the bios around and used a boot disk......

The only things I didnt change were the motherboard and CPU.

Why would it work on sound blaster or roland singularly but not with them together?

After all that. Instead of swapping the sound card for the same model 1750 ( because I have two of them) I swapped it with a Yamaha and it worked......

Are there new updated drivers for the old sound cards like CT-1750? I used the original disks.....???

Hmm that's interesting...

This is a non-PnP card right?

Just don't load any drivers and see if it also locks up.

Is the Yamaha on the same resources? IRQ and DMA and all of that?
