So I'm finally starting my 486 build.. Can anyone recommend a good overall DOS utility for obtaining general system info (proc, motherboard, cache, etc.)? Basically looking for something like Belarc Advisor/HWInfo for DOS that can provide information on a system.

Speedsys is what you should be looking at... newest version is 4.78 afaik.
