Hello,

I fear a similar situation with DOSBox is happening that happened to ZSNES. ZSNES started making fairly regular WIP builds, and because of that, there hasn't been an official release for years now.

So I guess devs just feel they don't need to make official releases, since CVS/WIP versions are always available. So they just forget about it, not remembering a lot of people are uncomfortable using WIP versions and also that they don't want to update every few days.

There has to be a balance, CVS are great for people who must have the latest all the time, and for code contributers, but for the rest of us, we would really love an official release every few months, maybe when the CVS is both stable and has a good amount of improvements over the last official version.

Just my opinion. I'm not begging for a new release, I'm just saying that just because CVS are available doesn't mean official releases should be forgotten.

🤣!

Official releases have never appeared that fast:

10/15/2003 v0.60
04/01/2003 v0.58
12/22/2002 v0.57
10/26/2002 v0.56
08/29/2002 v0.55
07/25/2002 v0.50

A compiled binary has always been available to those who have asked....and there is also a thread at VOGONS that is updated every friday with the latest compiled CVS.

I think the balance has been just fine. It's best to leave the beta testing out of official releases.
