Owners of this board,
please tell me what the factory default position of JP8 is and what it does. The manual says it is a DMA jumper - but what sort of DMA? And what values can it set ?

I don't know what it does but mine are set to the two inner pins, towards the front of the case (away from the expansion card brackets). My board seems to work fine so I'm reluctant to change it right now 😀

I agree, don't break that working system 😀
Btw I was not experimenting, just removed this jumper by mistake when reconfiguring the board. The manual does not indicate the function or default position...
On later, PCI boards, the DMA jumper is usually for the LPT port - but there is no LPT on this motherboard.
