I do not have a Speech Thing but I do have the FTL adapter. Is the FTL adapter the same thing? This adapter came with the boxed version of Dungeon Master, which was pretty frickin cool at the time. No sound card? NO PROBLEM! Here, have a sound adapter for free. 😀

It is, but it may sound different due to the resistor values used. The 9-pin port was for an Atari style joystick, but FTL may not have actually supported it in game.
