i've been testing two savage3 cards recently, one hercules and one unknown brand. i tried several driver versions, new or old, and they ALL freeze up at running ANYTHING involving any 3d operations, including 3dmark, quake2, dxdiag, and even checking opengl icd info with everest.
its unlikely that both cards are defective and can't execute even the simplest 3d operation, and my test platform is asus cubx so hardware incompatibility is unlikely either, so i guess its the drivers' fault. but it happened with so many driver versions, is it that the drivers are incompatible with dx9c installed? all my other ancient 3d cards worked with dx9c installed, including cards as old as rage pro and rendition1000.
anyone has experience getting savage3 drivers to run 3d tests and games? how is your environment?

I have had problems with Win9x+DX9 and lockups/crashes. I suggest DX7.0a (or older) unless you absolutely need a newer version. I did some game testing of repeatable kernel crashes awhile back and 7.0a was the newest that didn't cause it.

I do have a Savage3D. I did some recordings of it. It wasn't especially troublesome. So yup I think your problems lie elsewhere.
