I'm trying to get a CT2290 Sound Blaster 16 (the one with the fully functional IDE port) working as a place to put my CD Rom drive so it's on a different cable from my hard drives.
I'm running into problems, namely, which jumpers to set for the IDE address and interrupt, how Windows 95 detects the IDE controller, and which SB16 drivers are best in Windows 95 and DOS 7.XX.
The SB driver collection is great, but not everything is clearly labeled. Which is the best, most recent driver for DOS and Windows applications that enables the IDE to be used properly?
I've figued out which jumpers control the base address and IRQ, and confirmed there are no conflicts, but which address would be best? 170h? 1E8h?
Windows seems to think any secondary controller card needs to be 170h/IRQ15.
I tried setting up the card as 1E8/11, but windows 95 started giving me BSOD and kernal errors.
