Got a really cool IBM PS/2 Model 50Z 8550 in yesterday. I installed MS-DOS 6.22.

2 questions.

1: "Error in EXE File" shows up a lot. When I copy files from / to HDD & FDD via FDD and/or LapLink this error pops up. Is this a HDD, I/O bus or some other issue(s)?
2: How do I open up this machine? I just want to have a look inside and make sure cables are not disconnected / squeezed after shipping.

Update: opened the case. Everything looks OK. With IBM PC DOS it throws back fewer errors but there are still some. Next is an experiment without the RAM expansion card installed.
Update: turns out there is a virus on this machine. It now spread to other machines. So I will have to format / re-install all these boxes and also scan all my diskettes. I also need to install IBM DOS and an obscure SYS file to fix BIOS problems with the PS/2 Model 50Z. We shall wait and see. The FDD on this machine is flaky so that is another challenge. Anyway: this is all good fun. 😎
