*** The Following Is In Reference To Ultima Underworld #1+2
[The Game Is On CD-Rom and Both Games Are On 1 Disc] ***

---> The Operating System involved is: Windows XP Home Edition <---

*** I previously posted in order to find out how to run the game.
I am pretty clueless about stuff like this, but thank God for this site!
Because of a couple of really knowlegeable and very nice people,
I now believe that I know all of things I am going to have to do to get the game to run after installation.

***** However, my problem is that I can not even get the games to install!!!

When I enter the CD, I have to manually run it to bring up its contents.
After selecting the "Install1.exe" or "Install2.exe" files to install the game
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS:

----> I get an ERROR box that comes up and says:

"To install game you need a hard drive with
******** DOS ERROR ********
Drive NOT ready
on drive E
Make sure drive latch is closed.

Press ANY key to retry... "

*** Now here is the odd thing...
It keeps mentioning Drive E, but drive E is a Sony memory card slot,
and the game CD is in either Drive G or F
(cd or dvd drives respectively- I have tried using both)

My drives are laid out as follows:

HARD DRIVES -
C and D [C has my system files and D has only games]
DEVICES WITH REMOVABLE STORAGE -
A [ 3.5 floppy drive]
E [ Sony memory stick]
F [ DVD ROM drive]
G [ CD ROM drive]

* I then brought up the Command Prompt and tried to enter
" G:\install1.exe [with G being where the game's CD is]

I KEEP GETTING the error I mentioned above.

Please, can someone please help me step by step with what to do.

I no longer care how long or how involved the process is because no it is a matter of pride. I simply HAVE to get this damn game running..🤣

Any help will be greatly appreciated...***

THANX

It's looking for media in drive E and there is none. Put a memory stick in or disable it.

Yes, it’s my fault.

yes. Best is to put your cdromdrives before your media.
(you can remap then in win2k)

dosgames expect that.
