I recently purchased a Roland MT-32 (Rev. 0) that powers on and seems to be in working order. I have about 10 days left to return the item if it is not fully functional, so I'd like to be certain if it works or not by then. I already own a Music Quest MQX-32M card. However, my dilemma is that I do not have the proper cable to connect the Music Quest card to the MT-32. I ordered a custom-made cable, but it is shipping from overseas and may not arrive in time.

So, I decided to test with my AWE64 Gold and SoftMPU. I purchased this set in order to get the included cable:

I *believe* that I made all the correct connections. The MIDI OUT cable goes into the OUT port on the MT-32, correct? I also connected the IN cable, although I'm not sure if that is necessary.

My MT-32 shows this on the display after it is turned on:

However, the display doesn't change to reflect when SoftMPU is loaded or when a game is loaded. I have tried Gods, Space Quest IV, and Police Quest 2, and I have not been able to get music from any of them.

I believe that my AWE64 is configured correctly. My MT-32 came with two headphone-to-phono cables that I use to connect it to my amplified speaker.

Is there some kind of test I can run to verify that the MT-32 is fully functional? I'd at least like to see something happen on the display. I am using a PII-333 system that I slowed down to 286-16 speed for the games. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Too easy 😀

All games should work although you could run into speed issues. So I guess you will spend all day listening to various games 🤣 Enjoy this moment!
