Last night I changed the GF3 Ti200 in my Athlon machine for a GF4 Ti4200. Previously this machine was 100% stable in 3D games as far as I can tell.

Now, 3D games crash to the desktop within 10-20 secs of any significant rendering happening. I've tried a range of Detonators from 45.23 to 30-series. I've also tried stepping down to 1X AGP and DDR200 to rule out any problems in that area.

Does the GF4 require significantly more power, or a different voltage to the GF3? The PSU I'm using isn't particularly strong on the 3.3V rail. Any other suggestions welcome!

Specs:
Athlon 1200
512MB DDR
Voodoo2
Monster Sound MX300
IBM 160GB HDD
ECS K6VMM
Seasonic SS-300FS PSU (28A on 3.3v, 30A on 5V)

Pioneer DVD burner
Mitsubishi LS-120
1x Case fan

You most definitely have a problem with capacitors.

That equipment is from 2002, and both the Seasonic and ECS board came with off-brand capacitors off the shelf, so you'll definitely need to re-cap both of them.

Do we know this specific Ti 4200 to be a working card? Or is it new from ebay/salvage/etc? Have you tried it in another system? Have you tried drivers newer than 45.23? (GeForce 4 will support them) What operating system are you using? What Voodoo2 drivers are you using? What games are you having problems with?
