My name is quackgyver, and I'm one of the founders of Astrojone - a game design studio that aims to make retro-styled games.
What is this?
Astrojone makes titles that look and feel like many of the classic franchises that have changed so much over time that they've lost their original look and feel, or titles that have simply been abandoned or discontinued.
We spend a lot of time breaking down the design constructs of these classics, which we then use as guidelines for the creation of our own retro-styled games.
Why am I posting this?
I asked for Harekiet's permission to post this because we haven't had much luck appealing to the indie gaming crowd. They seem to crave a bit more newsworthiness than we anticipated, and don't seem to go as crazy over the prospect of experiencing retro titles as we do.
I wanted to see if we could instead appeal to the retro- as well as the speedrunning crowd with promises of new titles that go beyond merely having pixelated graphics, in our attempt to harken back to 8-bit, 16-bit, DOS, AMIGA, ATARI, Windows 3.11 and Windows 95 eras.
What do I ask of you?
Our first game is called Buck & Miles - a 16 bit-like platformer featuring the music of Alexander Brandon, brentalfloss, virt and cboyardee.
