I received a P-150 laptop as a gift, it has 16mb installed already. I haven't opened it up yet but my guess is the max RAM it will take is either 32MB or 64MB (but probably just 32). I think systems of this vintage used FPM or EDO but I'm not sure what bus speed I should be looking for. Any advice what to look out for before I go hitting Ebay? I may just leave it as is for now and leave as a straight DOS system.

Ok, I could have sworn it was a Dell but it is actually a Compaq Presario 1610. It's about 2 inches thick and has CD controls for controlling the CD audio that are accessible with the lid closed (I guess so you can use it like a giant discman if you want?).

Found full system specs here, in case anyone is interested:

Full RAM capacity is 80MB, so I figure it has 16MB on-board and a single DIMM module that will accept a 64MB PC 66 DIMM.

I imagine the battery is completely shot and will need to be repacked. I don't think NIMH batteries had the problems with memory effect that the NICAD batteries had, but I don't see a nearly 20 year old battery holding much, if any, charge
