Only thing I can think of is modifying the BIOS with the latest Jmicron JMB363 option rom.
If that doesn't work, I'd pick up a Sil0680 IDE card if you must use IDE. I wouldn't use JMB363 at all with optical drives because this controller is known to be erratic with them. This is how I have it set up on my Asus P5B, and I only use the JMB363 for the eSATA port in the back when I want to connect a drive, and it saves me from having to open up the case and connect it to the motherboard (but you need to have a quality external power adapter for the drive though).
Yeah, I don't remember anything like this happening when I had an Asus P5B-SE as my main mobo. Then again, I used SATA exclusively, so I wouldn't have encountered this issue.

These board mine included never had this issue before. idk WHY it would be firmware issue but, i suppose it's possible. the beauty of the JBM363 is that is OSX compatible and i do use OSX (not as my main). as i mention in the other thread i wonder if it's maybe bad caps or something. Hopefully that guy can ask his Intel friend if no one here knows.
EDIT: On the other hand mockingbird mentions some known issues which is new news.

Is there a known change log for the update?

😮 you realize mockingbird updated the JMicron part of the P5E3 BIOS himself, right? so the changelog is what he/she wrote?
And the rest of the changelog would be to the BIOS revision he edited? (1502 Beta)
*puzzled*

All he/she did was drop in the latest firmware Jmicron, it's basically a sub bios. Put simply she she updated the bios in the bios. that Jmicron probably has a change log some where on the Internets.

Oh, so what you meant to ask was "is there a changelog for JMicron's update?"
I didn't find what you wrote to be especially clear, hence my reply.
