my a b c's and numbers dont work.

i can use alt +letter combinations ok, I can use f1 - f10 etc keys ok.
i can type in the dos box fine, but after the program launches I can not type abc's or numbers. or number pad.

still function keys and esc work fine just can't enter any text or numbers.
.
possibly the usb keyboard? don't have ps2 on this system.

any ideas?
